If you are contacting our office through this website, we ask that you please print and fill out the new patient paperwork for functional medicine.  We know that your time is valuable, as is the doctors.  If the paperwork is filled out ahead of time, we should be able to get you in at your scheduled appointment time and avoid delays. If you are unable to complete the paperwork prior to coming in for your initial consulation, we ask that you come to the office 20-30 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment to fill out the required paperwork. This paperwork provides us with your health history and information on your condition.

Free Consultation

Next, you will have a consultation with Dr. Troy Wheelwright to discuss your health-related problems, concerns, and potential treatment options. This initial visit is designed for Dr. Troy Wheelwright to learn more about you, your condition, and  expectations to determine If he can help you. 

After your consultation, Dr. Troy Wheelwright will determine whether or not he feels you are a good fit for his program, and if he will accept you as a patient.

Examination

If it is decided to move forward with treatment, Dr. Wheelwright will perform an examination to gather the necessary information to obtain a baseline and help him get an accurate diagnosis. He will also order any necessary lab tests such as blood chemistry, food antibody testing, GI testing, ASI, hormone analysis etc.

It will take approximately 2-4 weeks to get all the lab results back.  During that time, Dr. Wheelwright will start you on a detoxification program designed to prepare you for treatment of specific underlying metabolic issues that will be discovered during the analysis of the laboratory results.   

Report of Findings/Treatment Plan

During the 2-4 weeks after ordering the lab tests, Dr. Troy Wheelwright will get the results back and be able to analyze them.  He will prioritize the underlying metabolic problems that are contributing to your condition and prepare a treatment plan tailored specifically to you. 

At the time of your next visit, he will give you a detailed report of all the findings, including all the lab results and what they mean.  He will also present a well prepared treatment plan and answer any questions you may have.

Treatment

 The recommended treatment plan will normally include specific dietary modifications to balance blood sugar, reduce inflammation, eliminate immune responses and supply the necessary nutrition to help your body heal.  He will also recommend any nutritional supplements to help support and correct the underlying metabolic imbalances that are contributing to your ill health.   Follow-up lab analysis is performed after a specified period to determine if treatment was successful, what other issues remain to be treated and make necessary modifications to the treatment plan.

Wellness Program

The ultimate goal of treatment is to return your body to optimal function.  This is determined by improvements on repeat lab tests and a reduction or elimination of your initial symptoms.   After accomplishing our goals, it is recommended that you return to the office periodically so that we can monitor your progress and and recommend treatment or advice when necessary to help you maintain your newfound health.  You can discuss this with the doctor after you complete your treatment.
